An interesting and delicious Japanese desert. I first tried it at Mt Fuji Bento restaurant in Birmingham. The refreshing mango ice ream inside the soft and floury mochi dough, to me is like an extra special kind of doughnut… (though really very little like a doughnut) maybe even better. I admit I was fascinated for some time by the dessert and played around with the little dough covered ice cream balls – perhaps for longer than is generally acceptable for a grown man. But it’s a fun dessert so why not? The mango mochi served with a tangy cherry sauce and delicate chocolate was certainly a treat.
